Welcome to the AgriProspects website!
Glad you stopped by! AgriProspects is a NIFA-funded, five-year Adult Agriculture Workforce Development (Adult AWD) program seeking to foster regional cooperation, identify workforce ecosystem gaps, and provide adaptive solutions to local and regional employment challenges utilizing the extensive resources and know-how of the Cooperative Extension System. We aim to increase awareness of and access to Extension resources that enhance skills, facilitate credential attainment, and prepare participants for successful workforce entry or re-entry.
AgriProspects approaches adult workforce development from three key perspectives:
- Everything Extension does is workforce development
- Skills are the building blocks
- All learning counts
Extension programming provides valuable skills to learners which in turn help the learner build their toolboxes. These toolboxes are then used by learners to improve their employability, start businesses, improve productivity or yields in their or other’s enterprises, manage staff and volunteers more effectively, and increase customer loyalty through high-levels of customer service. All of these (and more) are things Extension provides through its programming each and every day. Oddly, many miss this connection and its grounding within the Land-grant mission of Extension, Teaching, and Research. We’re hoping to change this!
This website is one of the tools in our toolbox. Other emerging tools include an online Extension adult workforce development program clearinghouse; professional development, support, and networking for Extension practitioners; and services to the system such as our mini-grant program.
We hope you’ll join us in this journey! Not sure where to start? Try reaching out to our team. Connect with others working in this area by joining one the Connect Extension subgroups and ECOP Program Action Teams we’re partnering with to do this work.
And, at the end, we hope you’ll agree that Extension is Workforce Development!
We’ll see you in the field!
